What is solution focused hypnotherapy?

Solution focused hypnotherapy is a modern evidence-based therapy combining a form of psychotherapy called Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) with some Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques and hypnosis to reduce stress and anxiety and help you achieve positive changes quickly through gaining control of your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. It focuses on finding solutions rather than trying to uncover or analyse the origin of problems, although that can sometimes be helpful. The techniques I use do not require you to talk about problems or relive traumatic past experiences but aim to help you move from where you are to where you want to be.

Hypnotherapy is more than just hypnosis. It is a collaborative process and provided you are willing to make changes to the way you think, it can be highly effective in relieving the symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression; improving sleep patterns; eliminating unwanted habits and behaviours; and generally helping you achieve a better quality of life. I will help you become clearer about what you want to achieve and help you reach your desired goal.

Although I cannot offer guarantees, I do have a high success rate in helping my clients reach their goals. You may find it helpful to read some from some of my client reviews.

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a relaxed state of focused attention during which your brain is in a better state for learning and more open to suggestion. In a therapeutic context, suggestions are designed to help change unhelpful thought patterns. Hypnosis is a very ordinary state that we all experience every day. Have you ever driven somewhere and not remembered part of the journey, or been so engrossed in a film or a book that you’ve not noticed the other things going on around you? Hypnosis is this sort of state of focused attention. Clients often comment on how relaxed they feel at the end of a session.

Common myths about hypnosis

Hypnotherapy is not like stage hypnosis. I will not take control of your mind! You cannot be hypnotised against your will and nobody can make you do anything you don’t want to do. You are in complete control at all times and your subconscious mind will reject any suggestions that are inappropriate for you.
